Graduated in History from the University of Florence, he earned his PhD in Sociology of Communication at the same University.
Recipient of a research scholarship from the Istituto per la Storia del Risorgimento in Rome (2003-2006), he was then post-doc research fellow at Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome (2007-2011), assistant professor in Comparative Political History at the IMT School of Advanced Studies Lucca (2014-2018), lecturer in Moderna and Contemporary History and History of Political Institutions at LUISS "Guido Carli" in Rome (2020-2022). He was also visiting research fellow at Goldsmiths University of London (2010) and King's College London (2014) and visiting professor at the Université de Toulon (2020 and 2021).
He joined the Deptarment of International and Political Studies in November 2022 as a Senior research fellow in Modern and Contemporary History.
