Presentation

Ilaria Vicenti PhD is a Research Fellow in Microbiology at the Department of Medical Biotechnologies of the University of Siena. She is specialized in the virology field, particularly antiviral drug resistance and evaluation of viral persistence and viral evolution. She has been working on HIV drug resistance for more than 15 years taking part many national and international projects and collaborating with pharmaceutical companies. In the last ten years she has worked in antiviral drug discovery and development, expanding his area of interest to flaviviruses and more recently to SARS-COV-2 new coronavirus where she has started to study the impact of immune response in patients previously infected and/or vaccinated. Furthermore, she has consistently engaged in teaching and student training activities, as well as communication efforts, serving as the Delegate for the Third Mission at the Department of Medical Biotechnologies. As researcher she won as Principal Investigator a project funding by ISTITUTO SUPERIORE DI SANITA' started in January 2024 (RIPREI2023_ad5d6fa48de5) and as  Unit Leader a project PRIN 2020 (Prot. 2020XFNCP7) funded by Italian Ministry of University and Research.
