Irene Tani is a Researcher in Italian Philology. After graduating with a degree in "Filologia moderna" (University of Siena), she obtained her PhD in "Literature, History of the Language, and Italian Philology" from the University for Foreigners of Siena. Subsequently, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Ezio Franceschini Foundation (2016-2017), the University of Siena (2018-2019), and finally at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (2020-2024). Since 2010, she has been a member of the central editorial board of the project "Lirica italiana delle origini (LIO). Repertorio della tradizione poetica italiana dai Siciliani a Petrarca", serving as its coordinator since 2016 (www.lio-liricaitalianaorigini.it). Since 2023, she has also been on the editorial board of the journal "L’Alighieri" and the book series "Biblioteca senese. Studi e testi".
Her research focuses on Italian lyric poetry from the 13th to the 16th century, with a specific emphasis on the manuscript tradition and its relationship with digital archives. She has collaborated in various capacities with numerous projects, including "TLIon", "TraLiRO", "CENDARI", "Archilet", and the "Opera del Vocabolario Italiano" Institute (OVI) in Florence. In addition to publishing several essays on 13th- to 16th-century poetry and the correspondence of Giovanni Della Casa, she has edited the critical editions of Bernardo Cappello’s "Rime" and Jacopo Fiorino de’ Buoninsegni’s "Bucoliche". Finally, she contributed to the publication of the two-volume work "LIO · CM. Censimento dei manoscritti della lirica italiana delle Origini (dai Siciliani a Dante)".
