Presentation

Dennj Solera is a researcher in Early Modern History at the University of Siena.

After Master's degree (Padua, 2014) and the PhD (Florence, 2018), he has furthered his education at several universities and research centres (Rome, Bologna, Geneva, York, Warsaw, etc.), where he expanded his research horizons.

His first studies focused on the religious and social history of the early modern period, while his most recent publications deal with the intellectual and material history of Europe. Among the topics covered are the social history of the Roman Inquisition, the formation of political élites, the limits of freedom, and the history of students' communities.

Solera has won several awards, including the Colombaria Prize and the FUP Prize for the best doctoral thesis (2019).

He is a member of numerous scientific societies (Renaissance Society of America, Societas Veneta, Society of Waldensian Studies, etc.), research centres (TELEMME, INQUIRE, etc.) and journal editorships (Cheiron, etc.).

From academic year 2023-2024, the course will no longer be divided into two separate modules (6 cfu+6 cfu), but will be combined into a single Early Modern History lecture series (12 cfu).

Those who have prepared for the previous syllabus, or who have already purchased the relevant texts, will be able to take the examination on that material, regardless of the topic of the current course.
