Prof. Romano is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Siena. In both teaching and research, Prof. Romano's focus is in generating conditions for adults, groups and teams to learn, grow and develop the skillful means for collaborative inquiry and organizational change. She has a particular strand of research on:
- intersectional approaches to transformative learning,
- inclusive research methods,
- disability management and inclusive leadership approach.
She is member of the Board of the Transformative Listening Project and member of the Mission Circle of the International Transformative Learning Association. Prof. Romano is the Director of the Certification Program for teachers for special education teachers at the University of Siena. Since 2025, she is the Delegate of the Rector for Inclusion and Equity Policy.
