Prof. Romano is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Siena. In both teaching and research, Prof. Romano's focus is in generating conditions for adults, groups and teams to learn, grow and develop the skillful means for collaborative inquiry and organizational change. She has a particular strand of research on:
- intersectional approaches to transformative learning,
- inclusive research methods,
- disability management and inclusive leadership approach.
She is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal "Educational Reflective Practices". She is member of the Board of the Transformative Listening Project. Prof. Romano was the Coordinator of the Certification Program for teachers for special education of University of Siena from 2018 to 2023 and from 2024 ongoing. She was the Scientific Responsible for the Erasmus KA220 Project "T.E.S.T. - Technologies for Steam Teaching". She was the Scientific Director of the two-year project "ALL Inclusive, Superiamoci in Sicurezza" funded by Italian Autism Foundation.
