Paolo Piccari teaches Theoretical Philosophy and Moral Philosophy. In March 2017, he obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification for the position of Full Professor.
At the University of Siena, he is Scientific Director of the Ethos Observatory for Sustainability, a member of the Teaching Committee for the Master’s degree programme in History and Philosophy, and the DISPOC delegate for the Humanities Library. He has been a visiting scholar at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Oxford and the Faculty of Theology of Lugano.
A member of the Italian Society for Theoretical Philosophy (SIFiT) and the Italian Society for the Advancement of Science (SIPS), he is co-editor of the philosophy journal Arkete and co-director of the book series Oltre. Orizzonti di teoresi filosofica (Mimesis Edizioni).
He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Ethos Observatory at Luiss Business School, the Board of Directors of the Italian National Consumers Union, and the General Council of the ANIA–Consumers Forum, of which he was formerly Vice-President. He has also served on the National Council of Users at the Italian Communications Authority and the National Council of Consumers and Users at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
A member of the Italian Order of Journalists since 1992, he has contributed to several newspapers, including la Repubblica, and has appeared as an expert on numerous television programmes, particularly Unomattina (Rai 1).
