Presentation

I am included in the list of top world scientists of the Stanford University and in the list of top Italian scientists of Via-Academy

I am interested in the study of:
- biological response of plants to environmental change
- plant-soil relationships
- use of bio-based products in the cultivation of crop plants
- citizen science

I am the President of the Quality Assurance Board of the University of Siena

Non-academic collaborations
Our group is particularly interested in collaborative research, both fundamental and applied, with partners not only from academia but also from the industrial and public sectors. We cooperate with:
- Agenzia Regionale per la Protezione Ambientale della Toscana
- BioScience Research Center
- Terradata Environmentrics
- BioEsperia srl
- Station Expérimentale de l’Endive (Francia)

BioAgry Lab
The BioAgry Lab joint laboratory originates from the strong collaboration between our research group and the company BioEsperia srl. It is dedicated to research on the applicability of nature-based products in the cultivation of agronomically relevant plants. Specifically, the project aims to enhance knowledge on the potential of soil amendments, biostimulants, biofertilizers, biopesticides, and resistance inducers in cultivated plants. The focus is on increasing yield and the nutritional quality of products intended for human or animal consumption, while maximizing the efficiency of natural resource use and minimizing external inputs. This approach aligns with the principles of biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, human health, and socio-economic well-being.
