Alessandro Linguiti specializes in ancient philosophy, with a particular focus on the Platonic tradition. Among his publications are a contribution on the philosophy of Damascius (L’ultimo platonismo greco, Firenze 1990); a new edition, with translation and commentary, of the Commentary on Plato's Parmenides, commonly attributed to Porphyry (Florence 1995); the translation of Plotinus’ third Ennead and three books of Proclus’ Platonic Theology for the UTET series «Classici della filosofia» (Torino 1997 and 2007); and a commentary on the fifth treatise of the first Ennead (Plotin, Traité 36 [I,5] Paris 2007), published in the Cerf series directed by Pierre Hadot. Since 2001, he has been teaching at the University of Siena. He is the Head of the Department of “Philology and Literary Criticism” and a member of the Academic Senate at the University of Siena.
