Claudio Lagomarsini is Associate Professor of Romance Philology and Linguistics.
After receiving his MA from the University of Pisa (2008), he earned his PhD from the University of Siena (2012), where he subsequently held a postdoctoral research fellowship from 2012 to 2015. In 2016–2017, he was awarded the “Marco Praloran” Fellowship (FEF Florence / Université de Lausanne), and in spring 2026 he received the “Lester J. Cappon” Fellowship in Documentary Editing at the Newberry Library, Chicago. Since July 2026, he has served as Director of the Fondazione Ezio Franceschini, Florence.
His research focuses on the Romance literatures of the twelfth to the fifteenth centuries, with particular emphasis on medieval French narrative, the tradition of vernacular translations from Latin into the Romance languages, and the theory and practice of scholarly editing.
His contributions to the promotion of research include his appointment as investigador vinculado at the Instituto de Estudios Medievales y Renacentistas y de Humanidades Digitales (University of Salamanca); his participation in the project Bibelglossare als verborgene Kulturträger (Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities); his co-editorship of the series Textes littéraires français – Moyen Âge (Geneva: Droz) and ConTesti Medievali. Studi, ricerche e fonti (Florence/Siena: Firenze University Press); and his membership of the editorial board of Cultura umanistica (Bologna: il Mulino).
