Botanico con particolare interesse allo studio della diversità vegetale negli agroecosistemi e nei paesaggi agricoli. Svolgo attività di ricerca nei campi della scienza della vegetazione, della floristica e dell'ecologia delle comunità vegetali. Ulteriori interessi riguardano l'utilizzo delle piante vascolari come indicatori ambientali e come surrogato di altri gruppi tassonomici.
