Mario Perini is Full Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Siena and Head of the Department of Law since 2024. His academic career has developed entirely within the field of public and constitutional law, with research interests focusing on constitutional justice, comparative constitutional law, parliamentary law, human rights, constitutional emergencies, security law, religious pluralism and environmental law. After graduating magna cum laude in Law from the University of Siena, he obtained a PhD in Constitutional Law and International Protection of Fundamental Rights at the University of Pisa. He carried out research periods at the University of Edinburgh, King’s College Cambridge and the Université de Montréal. He also taught European Public Law at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. At the University of Siena he has taught Constitutional Law, Parliamentary Law, Constitutional Justice, Comparative Constitutional Law and other public law courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has coordinated and participated in numerous national and international research projects funded by the European Union, MIUR and regional institutions, including projects on constitutional degradation, security law, religious pluralism and constitutional crisis management. He is a member of doctoral boards, editorial and scientific committees of academic journals, and has held several institutional responsibilities within academic governance. Alongside his academic activity, he is a lawyer admitted to the Special Register for Full-Time University Professors of the Bar Association of Arezzo and has held governance positions in non-profit and social institutions. His publications concern constitutional theory and practice, comparative constitutionalism, parliamentary systems, constitutional adjudication and public law.
