Simone Paoletti received the Laurea degree in Computer Engineering (specialization in Automation and Control) from the Università di Roma Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the Università di Siena, Siena, Italy, in 2004. From October 2004 to September 2007, he was a Research Associate with the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione, Università di Siena. From October 2007 to February 2021, he was an Assistant Professor in the same department, where he currently holds an Associate Professor position. Since January 2024 he has been the Chair of the MSc programme in Artificial Intelligence and Automation Engineeering.
He was a visiting scholar with the Division of Automatic Control, Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden, from November 2002 to April 2003, with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in February 2005, and with the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, USA, in April 2019. He authored or co-authored about 80 papers in peer-reviewed journals, edited books and conference proceedings. His current research interests include robust control of uncertain systems, identification and stability analysis of piecewise affine and switched systems, and forecasting, control and optimization techniques for smart grid management. He is currently involved in several projects and research collaborations on the management of renewable energy communities. This research was the topic of an invited seminar given at the prestigious National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Golden, CO, USA, in April 2019.
