Gianluca Navone is an Associate Professor of Private Law (degree course in Legal Services) and a teacher at the School of Specialization for Legal Professions at the Department of Law of the University of Siena, where he also teaches Civil Law at the Department of Political and International Sciences.
In the past, he has also taught at the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences, as well as at the Faculties of Medicine and Surgery and Economics. In addition, he has held the position of Personal Data Protection Officer at the University.
He graduated with honors from the University of Siena, with a thesis in Civil Law. He obtained a PhD (XIII cycle) in Private Law from the University of Pisa.
He is a member of the College of Teachers of the PhD in Legal Sciences, with administrative headquarters at the University of Siena, and a member of the Committee for Ethical Research in Human and Social Sciences (CAREUS).
He is co-director of the "Centro studi giuridici sull'intelligenza artificiale" (GIUR-AI), belonging to the "Interdepartmental Network of Artificial Intelligence Laboratories" (Unis-IA) of the University of Siena. In addition, he is a corresponding member of the Italian Civilists Association, secretary of the Tuscan Society of Civil Law Scholars, member of the Emilio Betti Institute and ordinary member of the Italian Academy of the Internet Code.
He is the secretary of the Studi Senesi Journal and a member of the editorial and scientific committee of other journals and collections. He is registered in the special list of university professor-lawyers at the Siena Bar Association.
Author of studies that cover various sectors of civil law, he has dealt with issues concerning human rights, family, civil liability, inheritance law, banking and financial contracts, consumer protection, documentary evidence, and legal aspects of new technologies.
Since November 2022, he has been holding the position of delegate of the Rector for the "Polo universitario penitenziario della Toscana".
