Massimiliano Montini is Associate Professor of European Union Law at the Department of Business and Law (DISAG) of the University of Siena (Italy). In 2023, he has obtained the Italian national qualification for Full Professor of European Union Law.
He is Jean Monnet Chair on “Circular Economy for the Internal Market” (CE4INT) (2023-2026). Formerly, he held a Jean Monnet Module on “EU Law and Circular Economy for Sustainable Development” (2020-2023). He teaches European Union Law and Sustainable Development Law.
He is the Rector’s Delegate for European Citizenship, and the Scientific Director of the Europe Direct Centre Siena. Moreover, he is the Co-Director of the Research Group R4S (“Regulation for Sustainability”) and member of the Board of Professors of the PhD program in “Law and Management of Sustainability”) (DiMAS) at the University of Siena.
He is a Fellow of C-EENRG Research Centre and a Life-Member of Clare Hall College at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom). Moreover, he is Co-Chair of the Ecological Law and Governance Association (ELGA) and a Member of several national, European, and international academic networks, such as the United Nations Knowledge Network “Harmony with Nature”, the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law and the Group of European Environmental Lawyers Avosetta.
