Presentation

Manuela Giordano https://unisi.academia.edu/ManuelaGiordano is associate professor of Greek Literature at the University of Siena. She has been “Golda Meir Fellow” at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Visiting Scholar at the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford, Chicago, and Visiting Professor at the EHESS in Paris. She has taught in American, French, and Israeli universities in English, French, and Hebrew.

She is a member of the international team working on the research Programme «Cosmologies et polythéismes: approches comparées», based in Centre ANHIMA, EHESS, Paris.

She is the Team leader of the Siena research group within the framework of the joint research project "Rethinking Orality; Neuroscience, Anthropology and Comparativism" with the University of L’Aquila, University “Orientale” of Naples, CNR. The network produced two international conferences (University of L'Aquila, November 2019; University of Siena 2021, of which she was the organizer with Maurizio Bettini), and two volumes Open Access Gold for the international editor de Gruyter; she is editing with Maurizio Bettini and Riccardo Palmisciano the third volume of the series.

She has published for Italian and international publishing presses and journals (among which Oxford University Press, de Gruyter, Brill, Bloomsbury). Her publications and research interests cover: fifth century Athens, Attic tragedy, Homer, orality and literacy, cognitive studies.
